Meghan Markle wore a white wedding dress designed by British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of the fashion house Givenchy. The bride’s veil was embroidered with flowers representing the countries of the Commonwealth, the California poppy, in honour of Markle’s home state of California, and wintersweet, a flower that grows at Kensington Palace. The dress reportedly cost $276,000, which would roughly be £208,268 in British sterling.

Meghan Markle’s wedding dress pulls in a total of 51,000 Google searches a month, making her dress the most-searched-for royal dress of 2021.

The research, by casino comparison experts Casino Bee calculated global monthly Google searches, for wedding dresses from fifteen of the most popular royal weddings since King George VI and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (the Queen Mother), to see which one was the world’s favourite.

The Duchess looked incredible in her custom-made Givenchy dress back in 2018.

A spokesperson for Casino Bee, commented on the findings for Express.co.uk.

They said: “Meghan Markle has been a fashion icon since she was catapulted onto the world stage when news broke of her romance with Prince Harry in 2016.

“The enduring popularity of her wedding dress, despite the wedding taking place almost five years ago, is a testament to the Duchess’ effortlessly elegant and timeless style.

“Despite leaving her official role as a working role, this study highlights her unwavering ability to keep the world’s attention on her.

“This is not only through her actions but also through her iconic style.”

Meghan’s wedding dress now pulls in over 4,000 more monthly searches than the second most popular wedding dress, worn by another royal.

This royal in question is Kate Middleton.

Kate’s dress was worn in her 2011 wedding to Prince William and it is the second most popular royal wedding dress according to the research.

Meghan’s dress is also over six times more popular than Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress worn in 2020.

This is despite Princess Beatrice’s wedding being the latest to take place.

Kate is the royal with the second most popular wedding dress, boasting 47,000 average monthly global searches for her Alexander McQueen dress made by Sarah Burton in 2011.

In third place was Princess Diana, who fetches an average of 30,000 monthly global searches for her dress, forty years on from the wedding in 1981.

The wedding itself still has a monthly global search count of 21,000.

Princess Beatrice also has one of the most popular royal wedding dresses of all time.

The Princess rakes in 8,200 Google searches a month globally for her dress that she borrowed from the Queen.

This makes it the fourth most popular royal wedding dress on the list.

Queen Elizabeth II has the fifth most popular royal wedding dress on the list.

This was despite the wedding to Prince Philip taking place 74 years ago.

The dress was designed by Norman Hartnell and cost £30,000 in 1947, the equivalent to £1.2million today.
