This Morning in turmoil as ITV show loses sponsorship deals over Phillip drama

For years, This Morning was the place to go for A-List celebrities to promote their latest projects, with the likes of Harrison Ford, Will Ferrell and even Kate Middleton all appearing on the show.

But now it has been reported there is a queue of stars wanting to not appear on the programme rather than sit on the famous sofa.

The reports, per Mail Online, come after the show’s former host Phillip Schofield admitted to having an affair with a ‘much younger’ male colleague during his marriage to wife Stephanie Lowe and claims of a ‘toxic’ environment on set.

This Morning’s sponsor Arnold Clark has also confirmed they will not be renewing their sponsorship deal with the ITV1 programme, but insist in a statement the deal ending in Autumn is ‘as planned.’

ITV is said to have lost over £2million in sponsorship deals since Phillip’s affair was made public on Friday.

A source told The Sun, ‘There is a lot of speculation about This Morning’s future and some staff are concerned about their jobs.

‘Phil’s admission of deceit has plunged ITV into a crisis which it has never been faced with before. It is widely known internally that they have lost over £2million in sponsorship deals since Phil’s affair became public.’

They continued, ‘Brands do not feel ITV is a safe bet at the moment. ITV are doing all they can to claw back control — but it will not be an easy task.

‘Guests have been dropping out left, right and centre. It is like a house of cards that is crumbling. The atmosphere is very much that of “Keep calm and carry on”, but it’s going to be a difficult week.

‘This Morning is seen as toxic right now and people do not want to be associated with it.’ has contacted a representative for This Morning for comment on this story.

Phillip Schofield broke his silence on Monday morning after his former co-star Dr Ranj Singh claimed ‘the culture at This Morning had become toxic.’

Phillip wrote in a statement on social media, ‘Now I no longer work on @thismorning I am free to say this. I hope you have notices that it’s the same handful of people with a grudge against me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice.

‘This morning IS the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there there was no toxicity. You can listen to those persistently loud voices if you like.

‘But the thousands of guests over the years, thousands of staff and crew, hundreds of presenters and contributors all know, it IS a family of wonderful, talented, kind, hard working people.’
