With lead creative Virgil Abloh‘s forward-thinking design codes at its core, the Pre-Fall 2021 basketball-backed range widens the scale of the ongoing partnership with an exploration of ’90s court-side mania through the Maison’s high fashion lens. In line with the initial LV x NBA capsule, the second range imitates the wardrobe of a professional basketball player in three dress modes: travel, game, and press conference.

Travel enlists relaxed-cut suit components, including a blouson and trouser emblazoned with a floral motif and a logo-adorned hoodie and short set, among other iterations. Stand-outs in the game lineup include informal shirts decorated with multi-toned lettering that spells out the fashion label’s name, referencing the typeface of a different NBA team for each letter and shorts boasting the brand’s varsity logo. In the press conference section, sharply tailored suits and overcoats provide a professional aesthetic, while a graphic-embossed leather bomber offers a laid-back-yet-sophisticated style.

As for the accessories, an updated line of leather bags gives a fresh take on the basketball-net detailing that appeared in the first capsule, with new ball pouches and basketball carriers. Additionally, a black monogram-printed leather Keepall enters the arena alongside logo-embossed slides, sleek loafers and monogram ankle boots, amid several other contemporary designs. Oversized chain necklaces and a boxy ring fronting the LV x NBA logo — a reference to the league’s championship ring — round out the new jewelry pieces.

Abloh worked in tandem with designer Don Crawley to craft select pieces, including a signature blouson, emblematic shorts, an NBA-embossed Keepall bag, along with the range’s logo-centric, hoop-inspired accessories.

The Louis Vuitton x NBA Capsule Collection II will be available in stores worldwide starting Friday, May 28th.
