Continuing to serve up delicious burgers since it flipped its first patty back in 1955, McDonald’s has now announced a series of improvements to make its classic burgers even better. The chefs at the fast food giant’s kitchens have now put together upgrades to the Big Mac sandwich, McDouble® burger, classic Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger, and Hamburger.
Set to launch across the United States, the improvements include softer, pillowy buns toasted golden brown, perfectly melted cheese, the addition of onions to patties while being cooked for juicier, caramelized flavor, and more Big Mac Sauce.
“I’ll always remember my first burger from McDonald’s. And now my culinary team and I have the best job in the world: thinking about ways to bring even more of that iconic McDonald’s taste to fans,” said Chef Chad Schafer, Senior Director of Culinary Innovation, McDonald’s USA. “We found that small changes, like tweaking our process to get hotter, meltier cheese and adjusting our grill settings for a better sear, added up to a big difference in making our burgers more flavorful than ever.”
The changes have already rolled out in several cities on the West Coast with more debuts set for later this year, while the taste difference will be available at restaurants nationwide 2024.
To mark the burger improvements, McDonald’s has also brought back the Hamburglar for a series of TV commercials. Returning to a life of burger crime, everyone’s favorite thief can be seen getting his hands on the burgers in the “Casing the joint” and “Heist” commercials.
