Martin Compston has urged Line of Duty fans to ‘wait for official confirmation’ amid rumours about season seven.
The 38-year-old actor admitted while he, show creator Jed Mercurio and castmates Vicky McClure and Aidan Dunbar are all interested in making more episodes of the police corruption drama after some fans were left underwhelmed by the season six finale, there are no new developments.
Reflecting on a meeting earlier this year during an appearance on Friday’s Good Morning Britain, he said: ‘Look, nothing’s changed. I’m really chuffed, we’re really delighted people still want us back.
‘That conversation, we had a really honest one whether we were all up for doing it again, and I believe we all are.
‘But unfortunately, at this point in time, there’s nothing immediate, there’s nothing coming very soon. I think we’d all like to at some point, it’s just all getting us together.’
Martin insisted the speculation isn’t ‘fair on the fans’, who have their expectations built up by speculation about the future of the show.
‘I think probably the best thing is to wait for official confirmation from us, because it’s not fair on the fans either, people getting excited and not knowing what’s gonna happen,’ he added.
‘So I think probably wait for confirmation from us, but unfortunately there’s nothing I can give.’
