Lisa Marie Presley’s friends are reportedly unhappy with her mother Priscilla as they slam her for attempting to gain control of the late singer’s trust.
The only daughter of music icon Elvis Presley died suddenly aged 54 following a cardiac arrest on January 12, days after an appearance at the Golden Globes.
Following Presley’s funeral at the family’s Graceland estate, her mother Priscilla expressed worries over a ‘purported 2016 amendment’ to her late daughter’s Promenade Trust.
It was then reported that the actress rushed to the courthouse demanding she was named a co-trustee of a trust that had been established by the late mother-of-four.
Trouble ensued after the former wife of the King of Rock and Roll Priscilla claimed she was named the co-trustee, alongside her offspring’s ex-business manager back in 2010.
Despite this, she went on to say there had been an amendment to the trust in 2016 that removed her and the business manager from the trust in the place of Lisa Marie’s daughter Riley Keough, 33.
According to RadarOnline.com, Priscilla agreed the amendment was signed but ‘appears inconsistent with her usual and customary signature.’
She subsequently asked the court to find the latest amendment invalid and to place her back on as co-trustee with her granddaughter.
Admitting she felt Riley should remain in the trust but only with the addition of her grandmother, close friends of the late Presley offspring have broken their silence surrounding Priscilla’s actions.
Sources revealed they felt Priscilla was attempting to ‘money grab’ in court following her daughter’s tragic death.
Page Six said an insider told them: ‘It’s strictly a money grab’, claiming that she had ‘no relationship with Priscilla, [her ex-husband] Michael Lockwood, or her half-brother [Navarone Garibaldi].’
Another source spoke to People and said: ‘Lisa’s intent was very clear. Lisa really didn’t feel that Priscilla was doing anything in her best interest.’
A friend close to the late star said her mother’s recent legal attempts are everything Lisa Marie didn’t want.
The undisclosed source then added that when the amendment was first signed in 2016, there was no relationship between Lisa Marie and Priscilla.
