FILA Recalls Grant Hill's Iconic Sprite Ad With a Special-Edition Footwear and Apparel Collection

In 1995, legendary ball player Grant Hill released one of the most iconic basketball spots with Sprite for the soda company’s “Image Is Nothing” campaign. A special component of this ad was the pair of FILA Grant Hill 1s that he rocked on set as they were never given a pubic delivery. Fast forward to the present day, the Italian sportswear company is recalling this piece of hoops history by launching an actual footwear and shorts capsule with the refreshing lemon lime beverage imprint.

The kicks are presented with a color palette that copies the color schemes of Sprite cans in the mid-90s. Side panels are done up with clean white leathers, while gradient accents of green and blue effectively land on the tongues, mudguards and the backdrops of the FILA branding that are situated on the midsoles. To take it a step further, the can’s “shredded” graphics are pasted to the forefoot, and notes of lemon-like yellow notes appear on the interior sides of the tongues and the “F” letters on the FILA branding. Black speckles wallpaper the midsoles and actual Sprite logos get pasted onto the tongues, heels and inside the translucent outsoles. Dropping alongside these thirst-quenching kicks are a pair of Grant Hill x Sprite shorts that also draw from the can’s classic aesthetic.

The shoes ($140 USD) and shorts ($68 USD) will be available starting October 21 via FILA and Champs.

In case you missed it, Rowing Blazers recently connected with FILA and Babar the Elephant for a joint collection.
