TOWIE’s Pete Wicks ‘broken’ as he announces his beloved grandmother Doreen has died

TOWIE star Pete Wicks has revealed his devastation after his beloved grandmother and "best friend" Doreen has passed away.

The 33 year old Essex lad showed off an uncharacteristically soft side as he paid tribute to his nan.

He shared a number of photos with her: One of the two of them smiling together in happier times, and another of Pete holding her hand as she was in a hospital bed.

The second image showed off heavily-inked Pete’s tattoo of his beloved nan’s name on his hand.

In his heartbreaking caption, he wrote: “Despite knowing this time would always come it doesn’t make it any easier. It’s taken me days not knowing what to say because no words will ever be able to describe what you meant to me."

"My heart is broken and I have never felt so lost. I have been blessed to have you as my nan but more importantly to have you as my best friend."

He continued: “The strength, resilience, love, empathy and compassion you have shown throughout your life is a lesson to us all and without doubt the only good parts of me come from you. I hope you knew how much you were loved.

Pete ended the note declaring his love for his grandmother, writing: “Sleep well and be at peace, no one deserves it more. I love you.”

Pete’s celebrity friends flocked to comment on his post and to send him their well wishes.

Made in Chelsea’s Ollie Proudlock wrote: “Love to you and fam my bro.”

Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby commented: “So sorry Pete I can’t even think about the pain you must be feeling now”.

Another person wrote: "Gosh I’m sorry P. I know how much you love & adore your Nan – your face lit up when you spoke about her. Love to your Mum too”.

Pete’s best friend, Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson, wrote: “Love you brother, she’ll always be with you," whilst Sam’s girlfriend, Zara McDermott, penned: "Sending you so much love, we are always always here for you”.

Other celebrity friends to comment included Olivia Attwood, Georgia Kousoulou and Danielle Armstrong.

Pete was always very close to his nan, and he often posted photos of the pair on his social media accounts, with their close bond clear to see.

After the original post, Pete took to his Instagram stories to thank people for their supportive words.

On a black background, he wrote: “Thank you to everyone for all the kind messages. It doesn’t go unnoticed," with three black heart emojis.
