People were oohing and ahhing the world-over today after the Royal Baby name was revealed.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their newborn is called Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
And the name certainly caused waves on Twitter with celebrities such as Chrissy Teigen and Katy Perry sharing their delight.
The name didn’t go down so well with Piers Morgan though who branded it “popular white and middle-class” and he called it a “striking blow for diversity and feminism”.
It also sparked Riverdale fans to share snaps of lead character Archie Andrew, based on the Archie Comics series.
The lead protagonist had his faced splashed all over the Twittersphere, as people rushed to share their delight about the royal baby being named after their favourite comic book hero.
It even prompted Netflix Canada to tweet: “Archie, Earl of Riverdale.”
The account also retweeted the Archie Comics page’s post, which simply read: “I’m baby.”
Netflix US meanwhile tweeted: “Archiekins!”
The Netflix UK and Ireland post retweeted the comment and joked: “Definitely better than Jughead,” in reference to Archie’s best pal on the show.
Meghan’s former Suits co-star and on-screen husband shared his best wishes after she had given birth.
Patrick J Adams who played Mike Ross on the programme said: “Just heard that the world just got heavier by seven pounds and three ounces.
“Much love to him and his incredible parents.”
He added: “Learned first hand seven months ago how transforming becoming a parent is and I couldn’t be happier for Meghan and Harry as they begin this adventure #playdatesoon.”
