No doubt hardcore fans of Batman will be pleased to know that there will be more emphasis on  Bruce Wayne’s investigative skills.

Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter back in January that his idea for the series of films is ‘very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale.

‘It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode that we’ve seen in the films.

‘The comics have a history of that. [Bruce Wayne] is supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been.’

Last week it was reported that Warner Bros. officially approved Pattinson for The Batman.

He fought for the ultimate role as the famed Caped Crusaderas after he had to battle his way through screen testing against Nicholas Hoult to portray the coveted superhero.

The studio was reportedly at odds over who they wanted to front the trilogy of films Matt Reeves is set to direct as both actors put on an impressive run for the role.

The Wrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez revealed on Twitter Thursday that both Pattinson, 33, and Hoult, 29, are testing for the role.

‘BATMAN UPDATE: Robert Pattinson & Nicholas Hoult are screen testing for the role. I suspect they’re screen testing in the Batsuit because Wardrobe Department will need full wardrobe test,’ Gonzalez said.

Batman battle: Two weeks after Robert Pattinson was reported to be Warner Bros. top choice to play The Batman, a new contender has emerged, Nicholas Hoult

Gonazalez added that, ‘the film will now start production in Q1 2020,’ giving the studio the rest of 2019 to secure the cast.

Variety broke the news earlier this month that Pattinson was the studio’s top contender, and that report also mentioned that pre-production is expected to begin this summer.

Warner Bros. has already set aside a June 25, 2021 release date for The Batman, which will be written and directed by Matt Reeves (War For the Planet of the Apes).

The Batman was originally set to bring back Ben Affleck reprising the title character from 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League.

Affleck was also set to direct the superhero adventure and he was co-writing the script with Geoff Johns.

Matt Reeves came aboard to take over as the writer and director, and it was confirmed in January that Ben Affleck was stepping away from the franchise entirely.

Affleck responded to the news on Twitter, stating, ‘Excited for in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life.’

The Deadline report in January revealed that Warner Bros. was searching for a younger actor to play the Caped Crusader, which is certainly true with Pattinson and Hoult in the mix.

Both Pattinson and Hoult are quite the in-demand stars who have busy years ahead of them.
