Piers Morgan, 55, has spoken again about his exit from Good Morning Britain, as he blasted morning rival BBC Breakfast. The presenter claimed his “work is done” after they reportedly beat the show in the ratings yesterday morning.
Posting on Twitter after dramatically quitting GMB last night, Piers addressed the rivalry.
He wrote to his 7.8 million followers: “BREAKING NEWS: Good Morning Britain beat BBC Breakfast in the ratings yesterday for the first time. My work is done.”
He clarified his comments on Instagram with a screengrab of the statistics.
It showed GMB received 1,293,000 viewers compared to the BBC’s 1,254,000.
This resulted in a percentage share of 35.5 per cent for GMB and 33.4 per cent for BBC.
Yesterday’s GMB saw Piers walk off the set at one point.
He was criticised by weather presenter Alex Beresford, 40, over his comments on Meghan Markle, 39.
Alex opened up about his own experiences of racism in the workplace during the morning show.
He then confronted Piers about his comments about not believing Meghan’s remarks in her landmark interview with Oprah Winfrey.
During the chat, she spoke about her own mental health struggles in an emotional revelation.
Piers’ comments have resulted in more than 41,000 complaints to Ofcom so far.
Alex said to Piers: “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle.
“You’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme, and I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off.
“Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. And yet you continue to trash her.”

This led Piers to walk off set after exclaiming: “OK, I’m done with this.”
Alex replied: “Do you know what? That’s pathetic. This is absolutely diabolical behaviour.
“I’m sorry, but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit there and listen – 6.30 to 7 o’clock yesterday was incredibly hard to watch.”
This turned out to be only the beginning of the drama after Piers announced he was quitting the show yesterday evening.
After posting a cryptic message reading “tick tock” on his Twitter, ITV confirmed he had left the show.
This morning, Piers also weighed in again about his exit from the show on social media.
Alongside an image of Winston Churchill, the former GMB host said he stood by his comments.
He wrote: “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview.
“I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t.
“If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on.
“Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”
