New mum Molly-Mae Hague has explained why she gave her daughter an unusual name.
Love Island star Molly welcomed her first child with boyfriend Tommy Fury in January and revealed shortly after that they’d named their daughter Bambi.
Ahead of her baby’s birth, Molly teased fans that the name she’d picked was very unique and that people would “love or hate it”.
Now explaining why she opted for the exclusive moniker, the PrettyLittleThing creative director told her 7.5 million Instagram followers as she responded to a Q&A: “I just love individual names so much… I was in a class at school with 3 Mollys and I always wished I had a name no one else had.”
Molly also addressed people guessing that she was going to name their baby Halo or Cloud.
“I thought it was cute,” she said of the names people had been guessing in the weeks running up to Bambi’s birth.
“People did also guess it was Bambi! As I used to give a few small hints.”
First time mum Molly was also asked about how she’s settling into motherhood, to which the reality TV favourite said she feels more “settled” three months on from Bambi’s arrival.
She told fans: “I would say in the last week or so I feel like a different person and I’m really starting to enjoy it the way I expected to… I think at the start it was a massive shock/adjustment (no matter how much you prepare yourself for it).”
Molly added: “But she’s 3 months today and I’m absolutely loving this stage […] she is more incredible every single day.”
The Love Islander echoed similar sentiments about feeling more settled into motherhood in a recent video shared to her YouTube channel.
Speaking about feeling “back to [her] old self”, the 23 year old explained: "I'm so happy to be sat in the car right now with my camera vlogging, it feels so good. I'm starting to feel glimpses of my old self creeping back through."
Molly went on to share that she breastfed her newborn for the first six weeks, but ultimately chose to bottle feed instead.
“I exclusively breastfed for six weeks, I've had so many questions about it, I managed to get to six weeks which I was really proud of. I didn't think I'd get this far,” she explained in her vlog.
“I don't really know the science behind it, but I came on my period whilst I was breastfeeding so that was an indicator to me that I wasn't producing enough milk, my milk supply completely dried up. Bambi was sucking on my nipple and nothing was coming out and she was getting so upset.”
Molly joins the likes of Amy Childs and Frankie Essex is opting to bottle feed their newborns.
