Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, and Prince William Post Australia Day Tributes

Australia Day takes place on January 26, and members of the royal family have been paying tribute to the nation in the wake of its devastating bushfires.

In an Instagram post, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrote, “Today, on Australia Day 🇦🇺, we recognise the strength of spirit and generosity of the community Down Under. Sharing above a selection of stories of how you’ve come together in the face of such adversity. You are an inspiration to us all.” Meghan and Harry shared a series of slides detailing the amazing feats of Australians throughout the tragedy.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also shared an Instagram post, featuring Kate and William with a koala in Australia. Their post read, “Wishing all of our Australian followers a happy Australia Day! 🇦🇺 This year we pay tribute to the incredible strength and resilience of all the Australian people and communities who have been impacted by the devastating bushfires.”

Rescue efforts are ongoing, and there are many ways you can contribute. The Australian Red Cross is currently accepting donations for bushfire victim recovery, and is also collecting clothing and “small homewares,” which can be donated to Red Cross shops.

The World Wildlife Fund is accepting donations for conservation efforts, with a focus on koalas. The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is also accepting donations via a GoFundMe page.
