Maisie Williams, 21, has spoken out about her co-star Kit Harington’s surprising move to comedy. The actor, 32, who plays Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, is set to host Saturday Night Live tonight, days before the final series of the HBO drama airs. In reference to Kit’s drastic career change, Maisie jokingly admitted to Entertainment Tonight that the Game Of Thrones cast are planning on teasing the star ahead of his big SNL debut. She quipped: “Oh my god, Kit’s like, not funny, so it’s gonna be hilarious.
“We want to go and boo him.”
Fortunately, it soon became clear that her comments were all in jest, as she clarified: “I’m sure he’s gonna be great. He’s gonna be wonderful.”
Sophie Turner, 23, who is best known for her role on the show as Sansa Stark, was also on-hand to share her thoughts about Kit’s exciting news.
Adding to Maisie’s playful comments, she said: “I think he’s gonna do terribly. He’s not funny, he’s not smart. I think he’s gonna be terrible!
“No, I’m kidding. He’s gonna kill it. I’m so excited to see it.”
In spite of the jokes from his fellow cast mates, Kit has revealed that taking part in NBC’s legendary sketch show is a “dream” fulfilled.
He said: “It’s brilliant. That’s a dream come true.
“I could hear the crowd of people cheering the final season of my show while I was doing the read through for SNL. That was a bizarre moment for me.”
Kit will be presenting the episode of SNL alongside musical guest Sara Bareilles and has already been featured in a hilarious preview clip with comedienne Leslie Jones.
The promo shows the star getting involved in a cheeky sketch in an attempt to fulfil Leslie’s Game of Thrones fantasy.
After Kit refused to bend the knee in the skit, he was forced to recreate Cersei’s walk of shame, wearing a blonde wig and nude suit, while doughnuts were pelted at him.
Elsewhere, Maisie Williams continued to show off her skills as a prankster during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
In an interview with the talk show host, she appeared to let a massive spoiler about her character’s fate slip.
The British actress stunned viewers when she said: “When I found out that Arya died in, like, the second episode, I was…”
Her hands then suddenly flew to her mouth in shock, as she frantically asked Jimmy: “Is this live? You can edit that out.”
Much to the audience’s relief, Maisie finally put Game of Thrones fans out of their misery as she declared: “April Fools!”
Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on April 14 on HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 15, while Saturday Night Live airs tonight at 11:30pm ET on NBC.
