Eamonn Holmes shares heartbreaking way mum marked Valentine’s Day 30 years after husband’s death

Eamonn Holmes has left his followers in tears after sharing the sweet way his mum celebrated Valentine's Day 30 years after her husband's death.

The TV presenter, whose wife Ruth Langsford recently opened up on being a stepmum to his children, took to his Instagram feed to share side-by-side snaps.

One black and white photo from over three decades prior sees his mum Josephine and father Leonard dressed to impress as they smile for the camera, while a second snap sees his mum today.

In the caption, the 61 year old star explained: "My Father passed away 30 years ago.

"My Mum is 92 and almost entirely housebound. Today it was Snowing heavily and she asked one of my Brothers to visit my Father's Graveside." [sic]

Eamonn, who recently said television is "run by difficult people" following his axe from This Morning, went on to reveal how Josephine wanted to tell her other half that she still loves him.

"She then phoned my bro and asked him to place the phone on Daddy 's Grave so that she could tell him how much she still loved him, missed him and that he will always be her Valentine," [sic] he continued with a pink heart emoji.

"Then she read out the last Valentine cards they sent to each other in 1991….. Love and Loss all in one. #Loveis #Valentines #valentinesday," [sic] with a pink heart emoji and a sad emoji.

Wife Ruth was first to comment on the post as she wrote: "The best example of love we could have," with a red heart emoji.

Paddy McGuinness' wife Christine also replied as she said: "Wow [crying emoji] god bless your mum true love," [sic] with two red heart emojis.

Eamonn's niece Olivia also replied, saying: "My favourite woman in the world," with a red heart emoji. The TV personality responded: "Well if anyone knows what she's like you do lovely neice x". [sic]

Many of Eamonn's 716,000 followers were also taken by the emotional story as one person commented: "Oh my goodness this so lovely Eamonn! They are Valentines forever. It’s 12 years this week since I lost my father who left suddenly. Always a sad difficult day. Hope you and Ruth are staying well." [sic] followed by a pink heart emoji.

To which Eamonn responded: "@voiceoveremmy Sorry to hear that Emma. My Dad was Sudden death too," with a sad emoji.
