Country star Blanco Brown, who was seriously injured in a head-on car crash on Monday night (August 31) near his home in Atlanta, is recuperating in the ICU at a local hospital.
“The Git Up” singer, who suffered “significant injuries” in the accident and underwent a 12-hour surgery to address those traumas, was reportedly facing additional surgeries, according to a statement from his representatives at the BBR Music Group on Thursday. They added that Brown’s family and friends are seeking prayers from fans during this time.
According to Atlanta Police Department, Brown sustained series injuries and was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The police spokesperson said that Brown was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the accident.
“The Git Up” spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 2019, and No. 14 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. Brown most recently charted on the Hot Country Songs list with “Just the Way,” a collaboration with Parmalee, which reached No. 31 in April.
Brown, a Grammy nominee, was named Billboard‘s No. 1 Top New Country Artist for 2019 and was among the “7 Country Acts to watch in 2019.”
