Escape to the Chateau’s Angel Strawbridge has opened up on her plans for the future in a new podcast. The Channel 4 star and her husband Dick Strawbridge have spent years restoring and renovating their home in Martigné-sur-Mayenne, France, much to the delight of viewers.

The creative entrepreneur hopes that one day the pair can reach a point where they do not need to fix anything.

Over the years they have transformed their derelict 19th century into a stunning and highly sought after wedding venue.

They have made their way through 20 bedrooms and installed several lavish bathrooms along the way.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, have also brought a coach house back to life and renovated a river boat, among other things.

During lockdown Angel and Dick had to find new ways of making money after the coronavirus pandemic put a stop to weddings taking place at their venue.

Instead they wrote a book and have been undertaking a roof renovation while the chateau is quiet.

They also filmed a new show, Make Do and Mend, encouraging others to take on new challenges in their own properties.

Talking about her future, Angel said: “I think what the next year holds for us is us getting to a point where we are not constantly thinking renovation.

“We’ve had years and years and years of it. And we’ve loved every minute of it,” she told the hosts of Netmums podcast Sweat, Snot and Tears.

“But we’re getting comfortable here. We’ve got toilets that work, light switches that turn on… it’s a novelty,” she added.

It comes after Angel said they have been living in a constant state of renovation.

Not only is their roof being repaired but the mum-of-two is also renovating the main suite in the coach house where her parents live.
