Flight attendants have to put up with a lot. Disgruntled passengers, flight delays, long hours – and they’re expected to deal with all while smiling and in a courteous manner.
But that doesn’t mean that they can’t exact revenge at all.
In fact, they have a secret way of getting back at rude passengers, and it’s all to do with how they serve drinks.
Former flight attendant Shawn Kathleen, the brain behind Instagram account Passenger Shaming, revealed the trick she would use to get revenge.
"I’ll take a cup and scoop in a lot of ice, and when I pour the soda or juice in, there’s like, two tablespoons!" she admitted to Yahoo! Travel.
It’s a harmless tactic really, and one that most passengers won’t notice. However, it does make all the difference if you’re thirsty, or have paid for your drink because essentially you’re forking out for a cup of ice.
But of course it’s just one of the methods cabin crew uses to get revenge, with some having previously admitted they use power plays such as ignoring customers who have been rude to them.
It’s always worth being nice and polite to cabin crew even when there are delays or you’re facing a frustrating situation.
After all, most of the time it isn’t their fault, and if you’re polite it’s likely they will be that little bit more helpful.
Want to stay on their good side? Try to avoid falling into one of these pesky passenger habits which are sure to immediately flag you as a potential annoying passenger to members of cabin crew.
Oh and if you are thirsty, try not to order a diet coke from the drinks trolley – it’s one of those drinks cabin crew dread having to serve as it takes longer to pour compared to other offerings in the cabin.
