Downton Abbey fans, it’s time to dig out your best finery and get a taste of how the other half lives!
This Christmas, you can head to Highclere Castle, where the drama was filmed, and indulge in the ultimate festive feast.
It’s basically the perfect way to live out your own Downton Abbey Christmas special.
We’re talking champagne and canapés, time to relax in the stately home’s opulent public rooms from the Drawing Room to the Music Room, followed by an epic three-course dinner in the grandiose dining room.
The best part is that there are currently huge ticket discounts. Usually priced at an eye-watering £490pp, the Downton Abbey Christmas Experience tour is currently going from £119pp on TripAdvisor.
You’ll need to be quick to snap up the deal as it expires on Saturday 15th December, not to mention that places are limited.
The ticket price includes your return transport on a luxury coach from central London, access to Highclere Castle’s rooms, guided tours and the dinner.
There will be ample opportunity to imagine life as a Crawley with dedicated time for exploring the lavish stately home, starting with a reception in the elegant Saloon room complete with a roaring open fire in the hearth.
Fans will be bound to recognise the setting of some of the show’s most iconic scenes – but the official guides will also be on hand to share tidbits from the show, backstage gossip and plenty more about Highclere Castle’s history too.
Then it’s time for the sumptuous dinner with choices of dishes including the likes of charred salmon or vegetable terrine starters, followed by baked goat’s cheese or a traditional Christmas feast with turkey, pigs in blankets, potatoes, Brussels sprouts for the main.
Room for dessert? Tuck into the hearty Christmas pudding and brandy cream sauce.
After dinner, there’ll also be an optional complimentary raffle with prizes including a Eurostar rail ticket to Paris, Champagne or chocolates.
And what better way to finish off the evening than a live performance of classic Christmas carols right by the epic tree, from a troupe of choristers!
