Vegan YouTuber is caught eating FISH after spending six years touting health benefits of a plant-based diet to her 2 million fans

A VEGAN blogger with millions of subscribers has been branded a fraud after revealing she’s been eating fish and eggs.

Yovana Mendoza Ayres, who uses the name Rawvana, amassed a cult following online by promoting her raw vegan diet.

For the last six years she built up her social media channels where she raved about her extreme diet, which includes shunning antibiotics and doing a 25-day cleanse where she only drank water.

But she’s been called a "fraud", "deceitful" and "a liar" after it was revealed she’d secretly been eating fish and eggs.

She was spotted in another blogger’s video with a plate of fish in front of her and has now posted a grovelling apology video to her fans who have been deserting her in droves.

The 29-year-old, originally from San Diego, uploaded a 33-minute video where she explained why she was eating fish.

Yovana claims over the years she had been experiencing health problems including being “basically anaemic”, which forced her to add animal proteins back into her diet.

She said: “I’m really, really sorry about the way the news was communicated to you, how you had to find out.

“I know that so many of you, you trust me, you listen to me, and you probably feel deceived and lied to and you’re in your whole right to feel that.

“And for that I ask forgiveness, I’m human.

“I made a mistake and I was not planning on hiding this from you.

“I was planning on telling you, but on my terms, on my time.”

She listed her numerous health problems over the years, and also admitted she started eating cooked food in 2016.

After not getting her period for years, her hormones were at pre-menopausal levels, and she developed yeast infections and digestive issues, as well as SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth).

She said: “I’ve taken emergency measures. This is something I’ve had to do, this isn’t something that I wanted to do.

“I’ve learned how important it is to be healthy and to put my health first.”

She said she started eating fish and eggs out of "self-love", after realising her diet may affect her ability to have children.

She said: “I started thinking about the future, I thought about if I don’t take care of my health now what’s going to happen.

“I thought about the fact that I am a woman and I want to bring a baby into this world. I want a family."

Despite that, she says she hoped to be able to return to a raw vegan diet someday.

Her apology video has racked up hundreds of thousands of views, but her fans have branded her a fake.

Commenting on her video, one said: “You are telling us now that you've been caught. That's what hurts the most.”

Another said: “This video screams I got caught, so I have to make this.”

A third commented: “There is nothing wrong eating whatever… the problem is the fraud, the deception, the fake news, the alternative facts… the LIES !!! You are morally bankrupt.”

This person added: “If she was caught eating fish & as a result made the video , isn’t it likely that she’s been eating animals for a lot longer than she says…”

While this person said: “Wait, so starving yourself for long periods and then only eating raw vegetables and fruit hurts your body??!?!???? YOU DON'T SAY.”

Other vegans were upset over Wetherspoons’ full-English which they called "disappointing".

More outrage, this time over ice cream after a tomato sauce flavour was launched.

And here’s another use for a potato – you can use it to clean a dirty pan.
