Mandy Moore Supports This Is Us Costar Chrissy Metz at the Premiere of Her New Movie

Mandy Moore and Chrissy Metz are family, both on and off screen!

The This Is Us costars, who play mother-and-daughter Rebecca Pearson and Kate Pearson on the hit NBC series, were back together on Thursday night, as Moore supported Metz at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie Breakthrough.

For the occasion, Metz, 38, wore a long red gown with black tulle detailing, while Moore opted for a silky green dress with a black bow on one shoulder.

The pair posed together throughout the night, sharing big smiles as Moore, 35, celebrated her friend.

Breakthrough is based on author Joyce Smith’s real-life story — as told in her 2017 memoir, The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection, about how her son fell through the ice of a Missouri lake and was given a bleak prognosis for survival. Metz stars as Smith in the upcoming film.

Costarring with Metz are actors Josh Lucas, Topher Grace (BlacKkKlansman) and Mike Colter (Luke Cage).

On Sunday, the actress made her live television singing debut at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas, where she premiered her song “I’m Standing with You,” which is featured in the movie. Metz was joined onstage by country stars Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina, Mickey Guyton and Maddie & Tae.

Metz opened up to PEOPLE on the red carpet pre-show ahead of the ACMs.

“I’m excited. I mean, you know, as a little girl, you always dream about something like this. But to actually do it and to hold a stage with these incredible women — Lauren Alaina, Carrie Underwood, Maddie + Tae, Mickey Guyton. Are you kidding?” she said. “It’s really exciting.”

While some fans and audiences were surprised by her singing talents, This Is Us fans already have seen the Emmy nominee channel her vocal abilities as her character, Kate, a one-time Adele impersonator and aspiring singer.

During the second season, Metz showcased her real singing voice when she sang Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 classic “Landslide.” (Metz herself even auditioned for American Idol in 2007!)

Breakthrough hits theaters on April 17.
