We know that dogs dream. We see them move their legs like they are running while sleeping. Do they imagine chasing rabbits, running through fields, or something else? We are not sure; however, if they’ve ever though about the perfect dog house, we may have found it.
Design Boom reports that the design comes from the architects at Studio Schicketanz and was built by Lewis Builders, while the design team was led by Mary Ann Schicketanz. They built a dog house that would be in the Dog House Architectural Digest magazine if there was one. This two-level dog house has everything a dog could want. It has a comfortable interior with two windows to look out that also let in natural light. There is a solar-powered fan inside to keep the interior at a pleasant temperature in hot climates.
It has an easy-to-climb ramp and roof covered with green grass for the dog to climb up on top and enjoy lying down in the sun. There is an automatic water system on the roof that is activated by a motion sensor that turns on when the dog walks on top of the house. What your fur baby does not drink, flows down to automatically water the grass. The grass sod can be easily replaced if needed by picking up a few rolls of sod at the nearby big box hardware store or garden shop.
The dog house is made from eco-friendly materials. The front panel swings open for easy access to be able to clean the interior. There is a drain in the center of the interior, which makes washing down the interior a breeze. Under the ramp is a convenient storage area that is a handy place to keep bags of dry kibble, food bowls, snacks, and toys.
This wonderful dog house was entered into the annual contest called the Carmel Canine Cottages Competition held this year in September in Carmel, California. This competition shows off all of the innovative dog house designs from the local area. This one was sold in a silent auction on Sept. 15, 2018, for an undisclosed price. The good news about this event is that 100 percent of the proceeds from the auction were donated to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Monterey County.
For those who want to inquire about getting one, it is probably best to contact the design firm of Studio Schicketanz or Lewis Builders in the Carmel area to see if they can make another one.
